We announce our workshops via our newsletter. Our classes fill up quickly, so we encourage you to sign up for our mailing list HERE to avoid missing out when we make workshop announcements. After signing up, you might consider adding workshops@cloverdaleforge.com to your trusted contacts; this way, our email blast is less likely to end up in your spam folder.

In pre-covid life, we would announce the upcoming summer dates during the previous holiday season. Workshops make great gifts for those hard to shop for people in your life. With the pandemic roller coaster, we are holding off finalizing our plans for the summer of 2022 until later this spring.

It is always exciting to hear when a young adult is interested in the craft of blacksmithing. Currently, we do not offer our hands-on workshops to those under 18 years of age but hope to change that in the coming years. We encourage you to sign up for our mailing list to keep posted on any youth-centered class announcements.

Several historic sites and villages across the province occasionally offer programs geared towards youth – Fort Gibraltar in Winnipeg, Lower Fort Garry in Selkirk, or the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach.

Each of our pieces is a unique work of art. Every hammer blow leaves its mark; no two items are exactly alike. We think this is the beauty of buying a handcrafted item. It connects you to the makers. The hands and skills that brought the product to life. The images exhibited in our listings are representative of what you are purchasing. Your purchases will be the same size and style as described in the listing.
We do not have a ‘storefront’ but are happy to set up an appointment for you to come and shop. If you let us know what you are looking for, we will pull items out from our inventory in advance.
We finish all non-food-related products with a clear enamel to help protect them from the elements. As the saying goes, rust never sleeps. Over time, you may need to reapply a thin layer of clear enamel spray paint, which can be found in almost any hardware store.

We coat all of our food-related products with food-safe oil. We recommend caring for these items as you would a cast-iron skillet. Wipe them down and dry them off after each use. When required, cover your item with a light coat of cooking oil; this helps keep the product free of patina.

Our social posts are a visual journal of the daily activities in our shop. We balance production work with custom orders. If you see something we have made before, and it is not a part of our product line, send us an email through our custom page. We will get back to you with information regarding the lead times and price range.

If you see a sold-out item that is part of our product line, send us an email. We will get back to you with an estimated date when we expect to have more made and in stock.

In 2016, Matt challenged himself to design and forge a different hook for each day of the year. Being a leap year, he forged 366 hooks. The project started as a twelve-month personal journey to get out of a creative rut. Along the way, it amassed a following of creative tastemakers and professional and hobby blacksmiths.

Many of these hooks are now a part of our product line and are for sale in our shop. If you do not see the hook you like in our shop, send us an email with the particular style (or number). If we get numerous requests for the same hook, we will consider adding it to our regular product line.
